Recruiting Process

Initial discussions with the employer allow us to understand the hiring organization, the position, its role within the company and the personalities involved.  Besides exhausting all conventional means of candidate sourcing (database search, job posting, online sourcing, referrals etc.), what differentiates McKinnon Targeted Recruiters is our success with accessing passive job seekers through direct recruitment. Our search team identifies suitable candidates and contacts them directly. Prospective candidates are carefully screened and those who meet the requirements are asked to meet with a targeted recruiter for an in-depth interview.

Confidentiality is the cornerstone of our business. We are extremely discreet and will discuss the specifics of the position only with qualified candidates. The confidentiality of our candidates is equally important. We will not divulge the identity of ANY candidate without first discussing the specifics of the opportunity with them and obtaining their permission before presenting them.

During the recruiter-candidate interview, our trained consultants pose detailed Behavior Description questions to the candidates. These questions allow the candidate to speak about past performance in situations relevant to the position being offered. It also allows our consultants to have a better understanding of how the candidate will perform in the position. The same questions are posed to each candidate, ensuring consistency in the interviewing process. Responses are then rated and a short list is created.

Following the interviews, profiles of the candidates are reviewed with our client. Employer interviews are then arranged. After each interview follow-ups are conducted with the employers and candidates to objectively evaluate the fit. Our preliminary work ensures that, in most cases, our clients are able to make a selection after interviewing no more than three to four candidates.

We are available to check the references of any candidates that are about to receive an offer of employment. We assist in the mediation of all offers and help to mediate on behalf of both parties to a successful conclusion. Coaching the candidate through their resignation is an important next step in the process.

McKinnon Targeted Recruiters regularly follow up with both the employer and the candidate to monitor the progress of the placement.
